My Chick Bad

I won't even lie, I do love to jam to this song(and I'm talking "in the car with the volume as high as it can go and the windows rolled down" jammin). Still, I can't help but wonder: is this the new female empowerment? Women calling themselves b***hes and bragging about how good they are in bed? I know it's nothing new, but when I took a second to actually listen to the lyrics, I was dumbfounded by the message. Never mind class, intellect, charm, and overall lady-like behavior, bad is the new good and that requires having the "best ass in the game" or "rolling with b***hes that all look Brazilian"

Dirty Little Secrets

Everyone has secrets. Some are just bigger and dirtier than others. For sixteen years, Lucy has kept her mother's hoarding a secret. She's had to -- nobody would understand the stacks of newspapers and mounds of garbage so high they touch the ceiling and the rotting smell that she's always worried would follow her out the house. After years of keeping people at a distance, she finally has a best friend and maybe even a boyfriend if she can play it right. As long as she can make them think she's normal. When Lucy arrives home from a sleepover to find her mother dead under a stack of National Geographics, she starts to dial 911 in a panic, but pauses before she can connect. She barely notices the filth and trash anymore, but she knows the paramedics will. First the fire trucks, and then news cameras that will surely follow. No longer will they be remembered as the nice oncology nurse with the lovely children -- they'll turn into that garbage-hoarding freak family on Collier Avenue. With a normal life finally within reach, Lucy has only minutes to make a critical decision. How far will she go to keep the family secrets safe?

I recently finished reading the book "Dirty Little Secrets" by C.J. Omololu and I felt the urge to blog about it, not only because it was such an interesting book discussing a topic I'd never really considered, but also because I haven't blogged in quite some time and that's just a shame.

This was such an emotionally compelling read, with a protagonist that was both absolutely relatable and at the same time, many of her decisions we're impossible to understand. I would def recommend this book just as a look into what it is like living with someone who is a hoarder.

I'm Back

I gave up internet tv for Lent and I guess it trickled into giving up blogging too because I haven't posted anything since then.

Ok Ok let me not blame Lent for my laziness. I've just been feeling incredibly uninspired to write anything is all.

But I owe it to all my fans(all three of you) out there to write. Because as incredibky unspectacular as my life is right now, I know a lot of you are experiencing a lot worse, so if my fabulous diatribes help to alleviate the angst of mediocre living them I'm sort of obliged to write then...right?

Just to emphasize the point, here's T.I.'s newest single appropriately titled: I'm Back:
