Pretty in Pink

Loving all things pink right now. It all started with an obsession for the perfect pink lipstick. Right now I have about 3 shades of light pink lipstick and and 1 hot pink. But I'm still looking for a bright pink that's neither light nor hot. Does that even make any sense?

Something that looks semi like this:

I'm also a big fan of bright pinks paired with other bright colored hues like blue and and purple:
And of course pink and black...best combo ever.

Maybe it's the Girlie-Girl in me, but pink is my favorite color and sometimes I have to be reminded of how versatile a color it is.

Lovely Lace

In what situations, and how exactly can one wear see through lace. It's something I've been trying to figure out for quite some time now(and by that, I mean the last 3 days). Lace is definitely something I will be trying to work into my wardrobe.

Emma Watson looks stunning in this black lace and leather number. And I absolutely love the pixie haircut. It makes her look a lot like Victoria Beckham though...

Not exactly a dress you can work on any occasion, but she does look spectacular.
Its fun and flirty, sexy and demanding of attention. I loves it!
But of course I'm always thinking of a way I could make my lace numbers work appropriate. I've got to find more places to go to wear all my fabulous clothes...

How Hot Are These Shoes?!!!

Alexander McQueen's Scultpture Platform Heels. They run for $3,999 . That's not too bad right? Lol They are just absolutely gorgeous, I did a sharp intake of breath when I first saw them.

What More?

Now that I am gainfully employed, I'm all good now, right?
Wrong.

There is so much my job doesn't do for me. From provide a venue for me to truly unleash my inner fashionista to offer an opportunity for me to give back to the community. Soo....I've been looking into places to volunteer. I, of course, rely on the most comprehensive non-profit search site I know of, Idealist.org.

I love that you can search by job openings, volunteer opportunities, and organizations. It's funny how it's so easy to find volunteering opps in comparison to jobs, but I suppose that makes sense: who doesn't want someone to do work for them for free? There are a couple of options I'm looking into and I can't wait to find something that offers me a chance to help others in a field that I hope to further pursue--mental health.

What can I say? I'm a giver. Lol no, but really, I believe everyone should spend even a little bit of time doing something that will benefit others. I think as we get older, life and all our own problems(bills, family issues, time schedule, etc)get in the way of our giving back to the community.

What do you think, should more people find ways to do community service even as they get older?

Fabulous Natural Hairstyles I'm Loving

You already know how I feel about fabulous fros. more women should rock them!!

I'm definitely feeling home girls earrings as well.

Love the ring on the left and the black & white striped blazer. One of my New Year's Resolutions is to take my fashion-forwardness to a new unprecedented place of fabulousity. And of course to document it as I do so. These ladies are rocking the natural so right!

California, specifically the Bay Area(where I am now) is a couple steps behind in the natural hair scene, and I may have to single-handedly lead them into the new nappy place. Lol I kid, there are plenty of fabulous women rocking natural; however, it is not as prevalent as I saw in Atlanta or in New York.

I have a lot of women come up to compliment me on my hair and express how they wish they could go natural. I tell them they absolutely can and give my little bit of advice. I want to help women step over to the nappy side. Has anyone wrote a book on how to go natural yet? Hmmm....
January Jones. As much as I can't stand her character on Mad Men, Betty Draper, love this pic. She is a really beautiful and her cheek bones are quite striking in this pic.
Are you up on Mad Men yet?

Are They Serious?

Are they serious about these shoes?!!! Who is wearing these?! Absolutely hideous. The platform heel, the sequins, the Nike sign....it's all way too much.

Happy Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Eve!!!!!!!
I pray that you all are spending this holiday season with those you love. Today's my younger brother's birthday, so we will absolutely be treating him like King for a Day.

I want to make him some cupcakes. If they turn out nicely, I'll take pictures and put them up......wish me the best!

Don't forget to take some time to think about Who is the true reason for the season. Hint: It's Jesus :)

Just found this collection called The Afropolitan Collection by Canadian Nigerian Eniola Hundeyein. She melds traditional African fabric with contemporary cuts and styles. I absolutely adore the bright colors and the mix between old and new, traditional and contemporary.
I'm especially feeling the bottom right dress. I would totally rock that. In fact, i need to find a someone to sow me a dress ASAP.

Here's a video of the models rocking the outfits:

"Never Change"-Indigo Charlie feat. Khleo

Anybody remember Khleo from the movie Holes(and some other smaller movies)? He was such a cutie patootie! It's nice to see he grew up to be such an attractive guy too.

The leopard print heels Indigo has in this video are fiyah!
Can we just talk about how sexy Jake Gyllenhaal is?

Mmmm get him Taylor! If it's true that he's dating Taylor Swift, I will put every piece of hateroid away and give her props cause homeboy is fine.

Homecoming

Today I head back to Georgia to spend the holidays with my fam. I've missed them terribly and weirdly enough, I've missed Georgia, as well. I know, I know...after all the complaining I did....but I do. I miss my church. I miss jogging in my neighborhood. I miss my beauty supply shop. And I miss the amazing natural hairstyles I used to see everyday. Californians really need to hurry and catch up with the natural hair MOVEment.

Anyways, I am excited to be going home and look forward to joking with my sibs, defending my drinking habits to my big sis, and harassing my younger bros.

This is truly the number one reason why I love Christmas. I know it means I get to sAlign Centerpend time with the people I love most.

World's most expensive Christmas Tree. It's in Abu Dhabi, and though the artificial tree itself just coast $10, 000, the diamonds, emaralds, and rubies that adorn the tree bring the price to a whopping $11 million!! Why would any tree need to have that many jewels on it? I hope they got serious security over there lol!

Whip That Hair

So can I get braids that long? That is some ridiculous length!! Love it though.

Workplace Fashion Wonders

I'm always looking for fashion forward outfits to rock at work. I try to channel fabulous, sophisticated powerful women.

When that doesn't work, I just go with hot and hopefully appropriate....

These two looks are exactly what I go for. I will hopefully soon start taking pics of my work ensembles to post so you guys can see what exactly I hope is appropriate for the workplace.

Should I Stay or Should I Go Part 3

After nights of tossing and turning and literally changing my mind every five minutes for 3 days, I decided to go. I chose to switch jobs and go work for the feds for a number of reasons. The first and most important was the money. The opportunity to almost double your salary is a hard thing to turn down....

The second reason I decided to switch positions was the opportunity for advancement within a field as grand-scale as the federal government. Hopefully, after gaining permanency within the federal government I will be able to transfer my skills and passions to a department that would better utilize my abilities and further elevate me towards my goal of helping young adults and working to improve the mental health of our young people.

I plan to enroll in grad school next year, in fact I'm working on my applications now. If I am able to start Fall 2011, I will be able to work and go to school at the same time. this will allow me to stay better focused toward my goal.

I absolutely, do not want to get comfortable in this position. I can not forget that I have dreams that go further than where I am now. I thank God for the opportunity to be where I am now, but I look forward to further blessing people in my field of interest. :)

Did I sell myself? Just a little bit. But I plan on buying every part of myself back. :)

Love my thick fabulous sistahs representing.
Black women will forever epitomize true beauty to me because we come in every size, shape, and color. With the amazing ability to flaunt what God gave us, we represent such varying degrees of beautiful. We are like butterflies in that each of us has a different design and we flutter around so magnificently. I could be bias...but it's my blog and what i say goes. Plus its just true. :)

Holiday Themed Nails

Loved this nail design!

I tried to replicate. This is my version:

I think it's pretty hot for my first try.
Time to get back into the blog game. I needed to restructure my life and hey, that includes my blog. As I make changes and plans for my future, I want to share them with the blogosphere...whoever might happen across my page and care to read about the fabulously mundane thought, experiences, opinions, and--of course--diatribes of this diva.
